A tricky, sloping location had lead to this large garden ending up with an unloved area at the back that was occasionally susceptible to flooding and consequently had become an unsightly, unused space.
Together with the client we designed a 5.5 x 6 metre garden room to serve as a relaxing space for their young family with a kitchen along one wall. The base was constructed using ground screws that enabled us to flatten out and level the very uneven ground but more importantly set the base of the building above the level of any future flooding. We also dug up the existing paving and created a soakaway under the garden room to ensure any future water ingression had somewhere to go.
